Please Eat!

Hi Y’all! So I wanted to ask for any advice that y’all may have! My baby girl just turned seven months and definitely does not enjoy eating. We made her green beans first and she didn’t mind them that much but she isn’t crazy about, sweet potatoes, avocado, peas, or carrots. (So basically every food she’s tried!) She will eat maybe one or two bites and be done. I called the doctor and she suggested feeding her as soon as she wakes up instead of a bottle, this way she isn’t full when she eats. Unfortunately, baby E still made her face, like we were feeding her dog food. I have read about baby led weaning but I’m not sure if it’s too late to try that. She shows a lot of interest when she sees us eating, so I figured why not feed her then, but she wants my food and not the pureed stuff. The doctor said by nine months she should be eating 3 meals, and I’m worried we won’t be there in the next two months. Did anyone else have this issue? Any suggestions? If you did try baby led weaning please let me know how it went!

  1. I would feed her what you’re eating, no purees- almost none of mine have liked baby food. They preferred going straight to “real” food. It’s now called baby led weaning. Also, until baby is one, food is fun. Don’t stress about three full meals. Just offer all different foods throughout the day and she’ll eat what she likes! It takes like 10 exposures or something for a baby to develop tastes for things so just keep trying. Good luck ❤️Mom to four- none of which have starved yet!

    1. Thank you!!! I think we are going to try the baby led weaning. I hope it’s not too late but I think that will work best for us. Mom of four? you are a brave woman, with lots of experience 🙂

  2. My son was all the time hungry, he wanted to eat our dinner, his dinner and all the time looking like a hungry baby but now he is teething and doesn;t want to. I think if he will be really hungry he will come to me. We give him more fluids and he seems to be OK

  3. I think you’re doing a great job! My toddler wasn’t super interested in food until about month eight or nine. She mostly played with it. I would let her take the lead, and keep offering.
Also, I mixed purees and ‘real’ food, but only the soft hummable foods. I know that isn’t exactly official Baby Led Weaning, but it worked for us.
    Good luck!

  4. Oh my goodness!!!! The same exact thing happened with my baby girl (who is now 11 months)!! I started feeding her what we were eating and she preferred the taste of real food over the purees. I actually mixed some quinoa into her purees to give it more texture and she gobbled that up! I didn’t want the purees to go to waste either. I kept questioning myself and wondering if I was doing something wrong, but don’t worry! I would just cut up the veggies, meat and pasta we were eating and putting on her high chair. For a few months, she did not know how to feed herself so I gave it to her. Around 9/10 months, though, she started bringing food to her own mouth. It is exciting to watch!

    1. This is exactly what I have started doing! She just hated the puree foods. She absolutely loves to eat what we have. I usually just cut up veggies we are eating and put them on her highchair and she just sits there as happy as can be. I guess purees just aren’t for every baby. I was so afraid I was going to have a picky eater on my hands.
